AKLease has signed a EUR 40 million green financing agreement with BSTDB

AKLease has signed a €40 million sustainability-linked loan agreement with its long standing partner in Türkiye, the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB). The funds will be used to finance environmentally friendly investments under the ECOLease product, such as renewable energy, waste management, and energy and resource efficiency projects.

AKLease has strengthened its partnership with the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank (BSTDB) through a new loan agreement. The EUR 40 million sustainability-linked financing will be utilized under the Company’s dedicated green financing product, ECOLease, which supports environmentally conscious projects. The funds will be directed to investments by Turkish companies that contribute directly to Türkiye’s green transition through renewable energy, waste management, energy efficiency, and raw material and water efficiency projects.

“This agreement gives strong momentum to our sustainable growth goals”

Commenting on the deal, Eser Okyay, General Manager of AKLease: “This new loan agreement we have concluded with BSTDB gives strong momentum to our sustainability-oriented growth goals. Through the long-term collaborations we maintain with international financial institutions, we support investments that reduce environmental impacts and enhance resource efficiency. Every loan provided under the ECOLease product goes beyond supporting renewable energy and energy efficiency projects; it contributes to accelerating the transition toward a green economy in our country and transforming production processes. With every step we take on the axis of sustainability, we combine this experience with environmental transformation and play an active role in Türkiye’s transition to a green economy. This agreement is a concrete reflection of our vision to create long-term value for both the economy and the environment.”

“By joining forces with AKLease, we expand climate financing”

Commenting on the agreement, Dr. Serhat Köksal, BSTDB President, underlined the Bank’s broader climate ambitions: “This new financing demonstrates our strong resolve to accelerate the green transition across our Member Countries. By joining forces with AKLease, we expand BSTDB’s climate change financing to a wider pool of sub-borrowers thus contributing more effectively toward decarbonization, innovation, and sustainable competitiveness. Supporting ECOLease will ensure that financing flows to projects that not only reduce emissions, but also strengthen resilience, create new opportunities, and support inclusive growth in Türkiye. The financing is consistent with the strategic objectives of BSTDB, to support the development of the financial sector, to promote institutional resilience and support transition to sustainable economies of our Member Countries.”
